Getting to know Tonni Hamilton of Mamie & Mable
What Mamie and Mable means to me: Mamie and Mable was born out of my passion for handicrafts, interest in global women’s issues, love of shopping and a general desire to help.
Increasingly women in developing countries are called upon to support their families often with no education, few marketable skills and in a global economy that is tightening its grip on the already destitute. Also, as the “designer inspired” craze sweeps the globe, traditional handicrafts are vanishing from the world’s marketplaces. The idea for Mamie and Mable became clear, provide opportunity for these artists and help them preserve traditional arts & crafts by creating market demand. The final piece of the puzzle was to further help provide opportunity through education, so a portion of Mamie and Mable’s profits go back to charities dedicated to educating and assisting women and girls.
Now in business for a year Mamie and Mable carries products from 13 countries and counting. It is a constant challenge to find products with the right mix of traditional and modern design but Tonni feels the struggle has been worth it and she is constantly humbled and inspired by the stories of the artists.
Favorite Trick for balancing work and family – Wow I wish I had one! I think I’m lucky though because my kids are older and believe in my business goals almost as strongly as I do, together with my husband they are a great sense of strength for me.
Best part of being a mom – Watching them grow up and discover their own destinies! It’s so awesome and make all those challenging times worth it!
Favorite Dessert – Again I wish I had ONE! I’ll eat pretty much anything sweet!

—-> My favorite item from Mamie & Mable is this beautiful Wood Handle Pink Flower Bag… one of a kind & once it’s gone, it’s gone. Who will the lucky one be that ends up with this little beauty?
