This week I got to meet one of my all-time favorite designers, Rhonna Farrer. Of all the crazy circumstances, she just showed up at the Mom’s Night Out at Sweet Tooth Fairy that we did to hype up the Moms Who Make It Conference! Talk about serendipity! I’m a big digital scrapbooker (when I have the time, LOL). Last year, I totally missed out on sending a Christmas card, so I made a New Year’s card (below) to send out and I used Rhonna’s 2006 New Year kit! Generally I do take the time to make the entire card or all my layouts from scratch, but I really liked this template of hers and it worked perfectly!
Rhonna is exactly like her designs. She’s glitzy, vibrant and fun. She showed up to our Mom’s Night Out wearing this gorgeous black headband that had giant brightly colored dress-up jewelry size stones on the side. It looked fabulous! And, she was super-friendly and personable. I love people that make you feel like you are the most fantastic person they’ve ever met; Rhonna is one of those people. Everyone attending the Mom’s Night was immediately drawn to her.
Rhonna is the focus of today’s post on Creative Inspiration because she isn’t afraid to be herself & live creatively. Rhonna is someone who has cast off what other people would classify her as; she’s fully invested in her own life & living it genuinely.
All too often, most of us live intimidated by what we think other people want us to be or do. Honestly, though, we serve the world best by being ourselves and letting our true selves shine through. Oprah didn’t become the icon “Oprah” by being what she was expected to be or by her copying what someone else had done. Cindy Crawford didn’t become a famous super-model because she looked exactly like an already famous super-model. Martha Stewart didn’t become a house-hold name by being intimidated of what other’s might think of her passion. Each of these icons broke the mold. They let their true selves out and it was ONLY by being themselves and going after their passions and living with creativity and risk that they are where and who they are today.
What could you do today to express your true self? Would it be buying that jewelry piece that you love but wonder if it’s just not “you?” What about carving out some time to let your dreams & creativity run wild? You are the only version of you ever and we need you to be you!!!
And – I had to save the best juicy piece of content for last – RHONNA IS SPEAKING AT MOMS WHO MAKE IT 2009!!!!!!!!!! Her topic is based around this idea of embracing your inner artist. It’s going to be phenomenal!!!!! But, her class will sell out, so snag your ticket while Mini Class session tickets and FULL DAY Conference Tickets are still available.
p.s. you can check out Rhonna’s designs at RhonnaDesigns.com.
